We believe that the earlier we see you and your child, the greater the likelihood your child will remain cavity free. All it should take is your commitment of a few minutes a day, along with you providing your child a nutritous diet. We feel this is a small investment that can lead to a lifetime of good dental health for your child. This site should help you by answering common questions parents have about their infant's dental care.
The goal of our office is that when your child is ready to leave our office to go to an adult family dentist (about age 14), that your child will:
- Not be afraid of dentists - by having had positive dental experiences.
- Have good dental health and be cavity free, and also have developed habits of home care (brushing and flossing).
To achieve these goals, it is important that you begin caring for your child's teeth while your child is an infant. The earlier you begin using proper preventative measures for your child's teeth, the greater the likelihood your child will never have a cavity. This is our wish, too. We want to help you begin your child on a lifetime of good dental care. Good dental care begins with good dental habits.
In our infant care program, we see children between eight and thirty months of age. Most dental decay is totally preventable. Because of this, during our infant care dental visit we emphasize steps parents can use at home to help their child be cavity free. We will answer your questions on: problems with teething, oral habits such as thumbsucking, diet, sizes and types of toothbrushes and toothpaste, and preventing dental injuries. During these visits, we demonstrate an easy effective method of tooth brushing and flossing. We also teach you ways to position your child for brushing and flossing teeth. Proper positioning makes cleaning the teeth much easier. You will find that your child's first visit to our office will be pleasant for you and your child.
